Walter started his career in the music industry in 1991, when he founded BMG Argentina. He was the CEO of BMG Argentina until 1998, when he left the company to start his own record label, Warner Music Argentina. He also founded the television channel MTV Argentina, and helped to launch the careers of some of the most successful Latin American artists of the time, such as Gustavo Cerati, Soda Stereo, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, and Alejandro Sanz.
In 2010, Walter was appointed as the President of Universal Music Latin America and the Caribbean, where he was responsible for managing the labels of Universal Music in the region. He left Universal Music in 2014 to focus on his own production company, Kolm Music.
Walter has produced over a hundred albums with some of the biggest Latin American artists, including Calle 13, Juanes, Juan Luis Guerra, and Ricardo Arjona. He is also the founder of the Latin American Music Awards, which recognizes the achievements of Latin American music artists.
